At a restaurant

Ellen and Bryan went to a restaurant to celebrate a special day. Bryan would prefer to go to Playcenter but Ellen has convinced him to follow her to the restaurant and after that, she would buy his new play station video game. The waiter is very friendly and he tried to assist them in everything.


waiter>>>What Can I get you?(O que você gostaria de comer?)

Ellen>>>What do you have for lunch?(O que vocês têm?)

waiter>>>Oh, we have many kinds of food , madam.(Bem, nós temos variados tipos de comida madame)

Bryan>>>Her name is not madam..her name is Ellen.(O nome dela não é madame... o nome dela é Ellen!)

waiter>>>I'm sorry little smart boy...(Me desculpe garotinho esperto...)

Bryan>>>I'm not a little smart boy...I'm Bryan and today I'll buy my new play station.(Eu não sou um garotinho esperto...Eu sou o bryan e hoje eu vou comprar meu novo plastation.)

Ellen >>> Ok . Bryan...May I order? What is your suggestion?(Tudo bem Bryan...Posso pedir? Qual a sua sugestão?)

waiter>>>Do you like seafood...madam, I mean...Ellen ?(Você gosta de frutos do mar madame, ...quer dizer Ellen?)

Ellen >>>No, I don't like it.( Não, eu não gosto)

waiter>>>what about some soup?(E o que você me diz de sopa?)

Bryan>>>soup? Are you crazy?(Sopa? Tá Louco?)

Ellen>>>Shut up , Bryan! Let me ask something to eat...because I'm starving.(Cala boca Bryan! Deixe me pedir algo pra comer pois estou morrendo de fome!)

Bryan>>>and so Am I...but I don't want soup, ok?(Eu também...mas eu não quero sopa viu?)

waiter>>>So, we have chicken, beef, eggs, vegetables, mashed potatoes and salad.(Bem, nós temos frango, bife, ovos, vegetais, purê de batatas e salada.)

Ellen >>>You can bring us chicken, mashed potatoes and green salad, please!(Traga-nos frango, purê e salada,por favor!)

waiter>>>Do you want something to drink?(E vocês gostariam de beber algo?)

Bryan>>>yes! Bring us two cold orange juice without sugar.(Sim!Traga dois sucos de laranja gelados sem açucar.)

waiter>>>alright! I'll bring it soon.(Tudo bem!Eu já trarei.)

**to go/went/gone= ir

**to follow= seguir, acompanhar

**after that= depois disso

**waiter = garçom

**friendly= simpático, amigável

**to try = tentar

**everything= tudo, todas as coisas

**what can I get you? em que posso servi los?/ o que vão querer?

**for lunch= para o almoço

**many kinds of = muitos tipos de

**little smart boy = garotinho esperto/inteligente , malandrinho

**May I order? = posso fazer o pedido?

**seafood= frutos do mar

**what about = que tal

**soup = sopar.(Sim!Traga dois sucos de laranja sem açucar.)

**shut up! = cala a boca!

**I'm starving = estou morrendo de fome/estou faminta

**mashed potatoes= purê de batatas

**without = sem

**cold orange juice = suco de laranja gelado

**sugar = açúcar

What time you got?
Perguntar as horas em inglês é muito fácil. Tudo depende do seu conhecimento.

Asking the time in English is very easy. Everything depends on your knowledge.

There are many ways to ask the time in English...let's learn four of them.

1- What time is it , please?

2- What's the time, please?

3- What time you have, please?

4- What time you got , please?

***É importante ser educado ao perguntar as horas, porque ninguém tem a obrigação de responder. Os Americanos costumam usar " could you tell me" antes de perguntar as horas, em Português é algo como" Poderia por gentileza me dizer...


"***Could you please tell me what's the time?


***Could you tell me what time you got, please?


***Could you tell me , please, what time is it?


***Please, Could you tell me what time you have?

@@@Como vimos nos exemplos acima, pouco importa onde você coloca o tal do "please!"...mas POR FAVOR! NÃO SE ESQUEÇA DO PLEASE!

How to answer the time- Como responder as horas
Minutos passados de determinada hora

*** Nesse caso podemos usar duas maneiras de falar, observe:

1- It's

2 - minutos

3-past/ after

4- hora

obs: No exemplo dos minutos que faltam para determinada hora , também podemos usar a palavra "before" , ou a forma mais usada que é "to".Exemplos:

***It's a quarter past eight = passaram se quinze minutos das oito horas ( 8:15)


***It's fifteen after two = são quinze minutos após as duas horas ( 2:15)


***It's ten past three = são dez minutos passados das tres horas ( 3:10)


***It's a half after six = passaram se meia hora das seis ( 6:30)

***5:25 am = It's five-twenty five

***5:45 pm = It's a quarter to six

***5:45 pm = It's fifteen to six

***5:45pm =It's five - forty five

***5:45 pm = It's forty five past five ( evite usar esse modo)

***5:45 pm = It's forty five after five (evite usar esse modo)

***3:00 am = It's three o'clock

***2:30 pm = It's two thirty

***2:30 pm= It's two a half

***2:30 pm = It's a half after two ( não muito comum)

***2:30 pm = It's thirty after two( não muito comum)

***2:30 pm = It's thirty before three ( só porquê é um trava-língua)

***2:30 pm = It's a half to three ( é certo, mas evite)

***12:00 pm = It's twelve ( válido)

***12:00 pm= It's midnight ( mais usado)

***12:oo am = It's noon( mais usado)

***12:00 am = It's midday(muito comum)

***12:00 am = It's twelve ( válido)
